Jingle some bells with the fam // 2014

One of my favorite parties of the year is the one at my Aunt's house with all my cousins and extended family. I don't get to see them very often so it is nice to be able to gather and see them and their faces! We exchange gifts with my cousins kiddos and we decided several years back to make it books only, which I love!!

If you haven't checked out the Pig and the Elephant books, you are missing out. They are awesome! Anytime you can find good kids books that you don't mind reading over and over and over and over again, because you know that is what is going to happen, it is amazing!
Chaz has figured out we only buy books and he LOVES it. He loves to read so this just really made his day. Again, more funny books! We love Captain Underpants. It has some potty humor, hence the name, but they are really funny and really fun to read. There is also a great inspiring backstory about the author. He was often in trouble in school because he would act out and not stop talking, behavior that is dealt with much better than when I was a kid, and when he would do this, he would get sent out in the hallway. During this time, he wrote a story with the principal as the main character, Captain Underpants. Sadly, his teacher tore up said story and told him he would basically never amount to anything. Now he has a very successful children's book so stick that in your pipe and smoke it you mean old teacher (*note: I love teachers. LOVE them but I struggle with the few who are mean and tear down kiddos. Build them up, never spoil their dreams)
Sid is a reader too. Fancy Nancy all the way for this kiddo!
Dane is just crazy and wanted to rip off all the paper. Goober.
He was so excited! He retreated in a corner to start reading his new books. Notice the armbands. He decided he liked these a few weeks ago and now he wears them all.the.time. That esculated quickly.
Another super cute book! My cousin does such a great job at picking out books!
The rest of the night consisted of trying to keep the kids watching movies and out of our hair, dirty Santa game full of conspiracy and stealing, cold drinks, lots of food, lots and lots of laughs and just an overall great time with the family. Thanks for hosting, Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Jimmy!
